The mirth of the unanswerable insult.

Much of the enjoyment of the English language, and certainly the finest elements of Shakespearean studies for a recalcitrant schoolboy, are the withering put-downs, the pleasure of words from which there is no comeback – colour, timbre and humour.

In each print, a figure thumbs their nose. When hung as a pair, they thumb their nose at one another.

The lettering is in gold leaf, adding a type of celestial regality to words from the gutter.
